Why Should I Choose Physical Therapy?
There are several reasons to choose physical therapy over costly surgeries and medications. Physical therapy has been shown to not only help resolve pain and improve function, but it is also effective at enhancing your overall health and well-being.
One of the most significant benefits of physical therapy is that it can uncover the underlying reasons for your injuries and/or pain. Some of the impairments your physical therapist can help you correct include:
Unhealthy lifestyle behaviors (i.e., poor sleep habits, improper nutrition, lack of exercise, etc.).
- Loss of motion
- Weakness
- Poor posture and faulty movement patterns
- Gait abnormalities
- Loss of balance
- Coordination deficits
- Neurological impairment
4 Benefits of Physical Therapy
A physical therapist can educate you about ways to move safer, use your energy more efficiently, reduce the risk of re-injury, and enhance the overall effects of your care. The benefits of physical therapy treatments include easing pain, reducing spasms, increasing circulation, and promoting healing.
- Physical therapy can help improve your joint range of motion and overall mobility: Our ability to move depends on how individual joints move and how the body’s joints move in concert with one another. Increasing joint range of motion and mobility of the connective tissues around your joints (including the tendons, muscles, fascia, and joint capsules) will help your joints feel better and move better.
This will also help you improve overall functional mobility and activity tolerance, essential for work, leisure, and simple daily functions. - Physical therapy can help strengthen weaknesses and compensation patterns: Through injury or surgery, muscles become weak and impact your ability to move and function normally.
For some, an old injury or abnormal movement pattern has led to weakness due to compensations. Physical therapists are skilled at assessing the whole body, identifying weaknesses, and teaching how to restore strength and function. - Physical therapy can improve your overall health and well-being: When you see a physical therapist for pain and injuries, you will receive rehabilitation benefits to resolve the condition and a total body approach to health.
Physical therapists can recommend nutrition to improve pain, reduce inflammation, and improve overall health. In addition, physical therapists are movement experts and trained to help you move/exercise more, no matter your limitations or restrictions. More activity equals improved health! - Physical therapy can help you reduce the risk of injury: By implementing a holistic approach, we can improve and restore your function and prevent injuries. This may include all components of typical physical therapy and include gait modifications and coordination exercises to stimulate the nervous system and help ensure your mechanics are ideal to avoid an injury.

Our Patients Get Great Results
“I’ve had a great experience at Prevail and highly recommend it! I went in order to build a bone-strengthening/protective program due to a recent diagnosis of osteoporosis. Rachel listened closely to me as I listed my various musculoskeletal issues and she subsequently carefully designed a program to meet my needs. She has provided detailed instructions after each session for my home exercise program. All of the staff whom I’ve met at Prevail have been professional and friendly.”

Get Ready: Preseason Ski & Snowboard Preparation Tips
As the snow season approaches, now is the perfect time to prepare your body for the demands of skiing and snowboarding. A well-planned preseason routine can help reduce injury risk, build endurance, and keep you carving turns all season long.
1. Focus on strength & stability
Target your core, glutes, quads, hamstrings, and calves. Exercises like single-leg squats, lateral lunges, deadlifts, and planks help replicate the movements and loads your body will experience on the slopes.
2. Improve balance & proprioception
Use balance boards, BOSU balls, or single-leg stance drills. Adding perturbations (standing on one leg while catching or tossing a ball) challenges your system to react dynamically – exactly what your knees and ankles will face on uneven snow.
3. Stretch & mobilize regularly
Include dynamic warmups (leg swings, hip circles) and mobility work for hips, ankles and thoracic spine. Flexible joints help you absorb bumps and maintain control through transitions.
4. Build your cardiovascular base
Don’t rely purely on strength; your heart and lungs must keep up. Bike, jog, row, or do interval training to build stamina for long runs and variable conditions.
5. Simulate ski/snowboard movements
Incorporate lateral slide drills, ski-jump hops, or side shuffles to prepare for the side-to-side demands of your sport.
6. Gradual progression & recovery
Start with lower volume and intensity, then gradually ramp up. Allow rest days and recovery work (foam rolling, stretching) to let tissues adapt.

Get Your Health Back on Track This National Physical Therapy Month
October is National Physical Therapy Month, and at Prevail Physical Therapy, we’re celebrating by reminding our communities that physical therapy is one of the safest and most effective ways to overcome pain, restore movement, and improve overall health.
If you’ve been struggling with pain, recovering from surgery, or dealing with an injury that limits your daily activities, our highly skilled therapists are here to guide you back to doing what you love. Unlike quick fixes that only mask symptoms, physical therapy addresses the root of the problem and provides lasting solutions tailored to your needs.
Why choose physical therapy? Here are just a few of the benefits:
- Improved mobility and range of motion: Therapy helps joints, muscles, and connective tissues move more freely so you can return to work, sports, and everyday life.
- Restored strength: Whether from injury, surgery, or poor movement habits, we identify weaknesses and build them back up to support healthier movement.
- Better overall health: PT encourages healthier habits, improved posture, and increased activity, all of which reduce pain and enhance wellness.
- Lower risk of re-injury: By teaching you safer movement patterns, we help protect your body from future setbacks.
At Prevail Physical Therapy, we believe care should be generous, clearly understood, and focused on helping you achieve real results. Our mission is to positively impact lives by combining compassion, encouragement, and expert treatment for every patient we see.

- 1 cup frozen chopped spinach, thawed
- 1 lb 93% lean ground turkey
- ½ cup crumbled feta cheese
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ¼ tsp salt
- 8 thick rings red onion (about ¼-inch)
- ¼ tsp ground pepper
- 4 small hamburger buns, preferably whole-wheat
- 4 tbsp tzatziki
- 12 slices cucumber
Directions:
Preheat grill to medium-high. Squeeze excess moisture from spinach. Combine the spinach with turkey, feta, garlic powder, oregano, salt and pepper in a medium bowl; mix well. Form into four 4-inch patties. Oil the grill rack. Grill the patties until cooked through and no longer pink in the center, 4 to 6 minutes per side.
